Experience
My approach to tutoring is to do as much as I can in order to help the student to excel on their own. I am enrolled at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Physics and Philosophy. Tutoring is one of the only ways a student's unique learning style can be appealed to through different teaching techniques that may not be possible through a classroom-style experience. Before spending time to adapt my teaching style to the student, the first step I take is to make sure that the learning environment is one of trust. I create a place where the student feels comfortable and is not afraid to ask questions. So many students these days are dismissive about the importance of having a good education, so I try to motivate my students and convince them of not only their potential, but also the value of taking their education seriously. In the future, I want to turn my attention fully towards teaching and pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching. In addition to getting my master's degree, it is my intention to obtain a Teacher's Certificate and eventually become a high school chemistry teacher. I believe that by following this path, I can make a real difference in people's lives.
